April keep fooling us with it's ambivalent weather and one by one, my friends are struck with annoying colds. Therefore, I'd like to share this easy recipe for a ginger and turmeric shot that will help you stay well. I like my ginger shots fairly strong, but feel free to adjust the amount of water to your taste.

Rinse and blend (or super finely cut) 250 g fresh ginger and 50 g-ish fresh turmeric. Put in a pot together with 8 dl water and heat to 60 °C for 20 minutes. Remove the pot from the stove, let it cool slightly, then drain into a bowl (make sure you squeeze out all the juice) and add 0.5 dl honey (optional). When it has reached room temperature, add the juice of 2 lemons, stir and pour into glass bottles. Keep in the fridge for up to 6 weeks. Remember to shake the bottle before pouring your shot.
Warning: turmeric stains a l-o-t. It will make your pot, your fingers, your blender, pretty much your everything, yellow. Have that in mind when choosing containers as it takes a lot of work to remove... But, bearing the powerful anti-inflammatory effects and the strong antioxidant it is in mind, it shouldn't be an excuse for not cooking this together straight away.
